Preparation

Your baby’s health depends on carefully following the instructions below. Proper hygiene, preparation, dilution, use and storage are important when preparing infant formula. Powdered infant formulas are not sterile and should not be fed to premature infants or infants who might have immune problems unless directed and supervised by your baby’s doctor. Ask your baby’s doctor which formula is appropriate for your baby. Ask your baby’s doctor about the need to use cooled, boiled water for mixing and the need to boil clean utensils, bottles and nipples in water before use.

	Thoroughly wash hands with soap and water before preparing baby bottle. Cleaning the bottle, teat and thread, boil in water in a closed container for 10 minutes.
	Boil water and let it cool for about 3 minutes (so that it remains at a temperature of at least 176 ºF).
	Pour into a clean bottle the exact amount of water and formula listed on the instructions of the container. Be careful of scalding.
	Put a cap on the bottle and shake to mix. Do not stir.
	Cool the formula to body temperature so it will not burn your baby’s mouth. Hold the capped bottle under cool water or place it in an ice bath. Do not let the cooling water get into the bottle or on the nipple.
	Before feeding your baby, test the formula’s temperature by putting a few drops on your wrist. It should feel warm, not hot.

Feeding Guide

Blemil plus 2 Optimum is prepared with a measurement of 4.7 g per 1 fl oz. of water. Use scoop in can to measure powder. Store DRY scoop in this can. The food should be administered to the infant immediately after being prepared. Do not reuse the contents of the bottle after taking. Unless otherwise recommended by your baby’s doctor, the following is recommended:
